Sometimes students in grades 6-8 are called the "forgotten middle" as schools challenge students with gifts and talents in elementary through a variety of programs and opportunities and high schools offer Advanced Placement and Dual Credit Courses. Middle school students with gifts and talents need opportunities for extended learning. They also need instruction and coaching to develop and utilize leadership skills with their peers in a socially accepted way. CESA #1 has utilized the DPI's GT Students Education Program Grant to create a learning experience for middle school students focused on leadership and STEM that can be taken back and scaled in their home schools. Learn about the teacher PD, student workshop days and collaboration with Texas Instruments from three different perspectives (administrator, project coordinator, and district GT coordinator) in this interactive session. Student voice can be heard in feedback and growth statements.
